Any other fans out there? I've the Immersion boxset and ripped all the albums onto my computer. I've spent the last few days doing work around the house and listening to the entire back catalogue on repeat and have rediscovered my absolute love of this band!

My favourite band of all time! I remember the first time I was introduced to their existence was a vague and bizarre television ad for Lateralus back in 2001, I remember thinking, 'what the f#&* was that?' Ever since I've been absolutely hooked, there is truly nobody else like them. And I must say, Danny Carey is by far my favourite in the band; he is just the most fascinating drummer, such creative polyrhythms and oddball meters...the first time I saw him play the song 'Jambi' I just stood there transfixed with my jaw agape, what the hell is the time signature in that song?

Any Tool fans here? Their live shows are simply out of this world; absolutely amazing stuff. What a band.

I myself have been playing guitar for about 7 years and am in a band called "In Human Defiance". We play metalcore-ish type of metal, but I always love expanding musical horizons and trying new things musically. Right now we are writing new material and the stuff we are writing right now is just amazing to me and I can't wait to share with you guys. Meanwhile please share with us your musical exploits! :D

Saw this Linkin Park video last night, the set looks like the hologram room in Prometheus?

Ok, I saw this last night and noticed that the set the band is in looks a good deal like it was inspired by the hologram room in Prometheus, the curved, ridged walls, the circular shaped ground and the big blue, holographic light looks all too familiar, do you see the resemblance?

Right from the first few seconds the parallels become pretty noticeable...

I used to post these in the musicians discussion but those get overlooked and nobody ever sees them so I'll just do what everybody else does and just start my own thread for convenience sake.

Audio Production question (midi keyboard installation)

If any of you have an answer to it, I'm all ears.

I'm trying to get a studio set-up, at home, and
I use Reaper for my DAW, and a Lexicon Omega as my mixer, and have
Pianissimo as the VSTi that I use as a midi instrument. However, I was
thinking about buying a midi keyboard, and was wondering if you might
have any recommendations, if any. Installing it should just consist of
plugging it into the back of the mixer and my DAW should recognize it,
correct?

Favorite Artists/Albums

So what are you guys favorite bands and albums?

Mine? I'm an audiophile; I listen to just about everything. I love jazz, metal, rock, and classical; rap and country suck, as far as I'm concerned. I'm also a big fan of video game music, from Nintendo to the Amiga. My favorite jazz album is "Light as a Feather" by Return to Forever. My favorite classical piece is probably Beethoven's 9th, especially the 4th movement with the chorus. I love Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and a million other bands just like them. Powerslave is my favorite album by Maiden; by Priest, probably Stained Class (I'm a big fan of 70s Priest, though I love all their work). I love King Diamond's Abigail; Give Me Your Soul, Please...; The Spider's Lullaby; and Them; as well as his Mercyful Fate work. The list goes on and on... : )

Past few weeks I've twice heard a UK song; I think it's a sample of a well known song, perhaps a 90s hit but I don't know which one. It's instrumental for the most part, but it notably features a series of quick monologues from what sound like dissaffected British youths, mostly blacks. They chant one-at-a-time about "being" things: be a friend, be a brother, be a hit, be a thief, be an enemy, be anyone (and many more besides).

I'm... Inspired :-)

This woman was my childhood, my mother playing her albums back-to-back along Loreena McKennitt as she'd send us off to school, telling us to "hop like bunnies." Songs like Ebudae, Teahouse Moon, Book of Days, Caribbean Blue, Wild Child, Fallen Embers, Anywhere Is, One By One; and Storms In Africa, part II kick as much ass to me as Cynic's How Could I? or Slayer's Angel of Death (OK, maybe in a slightly different fashion than those bands, but awesome is awesome and Enya is nothing but). What are your favorite Enya songs and why? Any fond memories associated with her music?
